To celebrate our 17th anniversary, Deanna and I spent a weekend at a hotel in downtown Winchester, VA. Quite a difference in cultural context. Small town, nestled in the mountains, with an emerging fringe artist population. It was a slow weekend and good for us.Sometimes, the first step in decoding culture is to understand demographics. How old are the people that live there, what do they do for work, what kind of economy exists there, what kind of income is there, how dense is the population.
